Joe Harding, a conservative Republican and seventh generation Floridian, was born and raised in Williston. He is a serial entrepreneur, starting several businesses focused on boarding and training horses, real estate development, home construction, and landscaping. Harding won election to the state house in November 2020, never previously holding elected office.
Harding learned the value of hard work and good stewardship of resources in his large family of eleven siblings raised by his pastor father and homeschooling mother. While studying construction management at Florida International University, he worked multiple jobs to support himself, eventually working his way up into project management roles in which he managed multi-million dollar budgets, diverse clients, and demanding timelines.
Since being elected, Harding has taken a strong leadership role on issues related to education, workforce development, and regulatory reform. He serves on the Education and Employment Committee, the Secondary Education and Career Development Subcommittee, the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee, the Local Administration and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee, and the Regulatory Reform Subcommittee.
He is a member of the Marion/Ocala Chamber and Economic Partnership, the National Federation of Independent Business, and his local Rotary Club.
Harding and his wife, Amanda, have four children Vivienne-June, Joseph, Fiona, and Gideon. He enjoys any outdoor recreation with his family but especially enjoys hunting, fishing, and youth sports.
