Melony was born in Winter Haven and has been a long time resident of Fort Meade. She is a graduate of South Florida State College and South Eastern University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Professional Leadership.   She and her husband, Robbie, a beekeeper, have raised two daughters and they are the proud grandparents of two beautiful granddaughters.

Representative Bell was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2018. Before that she served as Chairman on the Polk County Commission where she spent eight years being a true champion of Economic Development and a great advocate for the Arts & Education.  She served for four years as the Mayor in the City of Fort Meade and spent fourteen years on the City Commission.  Education has been her passion.  She was inspired to run for office while fighting to prevent a private prison from being built next to an elementary school in her hometown.

She serves on the Board of Bartow Bay Care Hospital, Bartow Cricket Club, Bartow Economic Development Council, Fort Meade School Advisory Council, Fort Meade Women’s Club, Polk Academies Executive Advisory Board and the Reading Pals Program.

Now representing the 56th District in the Florida House, which encompasses all of DeSoto and Hardee County as well as the Southern portion of Polk County.
